Kabayel's elevation may be clean. The era around it probably will not be.
Oleksandr Usyk vacated his remaining heavyweight titles while keeping the idea of a final fight alive. The WBA moved Agit Kabayel into championship position, while the IBF route pushed toward a Frank Sanchez-Moses Itauma order.
Usyk choosing freedom over mandatory maintenance is understandable. The cost is a fractured heavyweight story: multiple title lanes, multiple claims to legitimacy, and no single post-Usyk answer the public can hold in one hand.
The Sanchez-Itauma order has a built-in wrinkle: Itauma is already scheduled for Filip Hrgovic on August 29 at The O2. Treat the IBF line as ordered paperwork with practical complications, not a finalized fight.
Post-Usyk heavyweight needs one public answer. Kabayel may have status; the division still needs a fight that feels like succession.
